What's the difference between office hours and gate hours?
The office hours are the hours of operation for the property when the facility manager or one of our professional employees will be available to assist you with your storage needs. The gate hours are the hours the gate is open and your rental unit can be accessed.

When can I access my unit?
You can access your unit during the gate hours posted online and at our Ledgewood, NJ facility.

What is a roll-up door?
Roll-up doors are very similar to garage doors and are accessed by sliding a latch and lifting the door upward. Roll-up doors are the most common doors in self-storage and are bigger than most doors, allowing tenants to maximize the space of their unit.

Can I buy boxes and other packing products from A-1 Self Storage Systems?
Yes. A1 Self Storage Systems offers a variety of boxes and packing supplies.

What does "resident" manager mean?
"Resident" manager means that an employee, usually the manager, has an apartment on-site as a part of the facility.

Do I get a lock when I rent a unit?
You can purchase a new, sealed lock at A1 Self Storage Systems and no one else will have a key to that lock or you can provide your own lock.

To book a reservation (optional - walk-ins are welcome)
We give you the flexibility to book a reservation up to 30 days in advance to help you plan ahead; however, we do not suggest that you actually rent your unit until the day of or the day before you plan to move your possessions in. WE HAVE ALL SIZES AVAILABLE.

Do you accept credit cards?
We accept several major credit cards, including MasterCard®, Visa®, and Discover®.

What are the payment terms?
A1 Self Storage Systems wants to make your storage experience a stress-free experience, including paying your bill. Typically, our leases are month-to-month. We offer the convenience of several payment options for you. We can accept your MasterCard®, Visa®, or Discover® over the telephone each month, or you can pay in person with your MasterCard®, Visa®, or Discover®, or pay by check or cash. You can also mail your payment in to us or come in and pay in person during our office hours. We also offer a drop box if you choose to make your payment during the gate hours, but outside of our office hours.

When is my rent due?
Your monthly rent is due on the anniversary date of your signed rental agreement with A1 Self Storage Systems, with the exception of your second month, as our current promotion offers your second month absolutely FREE. For example, if you sign your agreement with A1 Self Storage Systems on the 10th of the month, all future rents due for that unit will be on the 10th of each month.

Can I pay my bills online?
Not at this time, but we are working on this feature for you.

Do I need insurance for my stored goods?
No, you do not; however, you are responsible for those items you store at A1 Self Storage Systems. We offer an affordable self-storage insurance option; however, in most cases, what you store at A1 Self Storage Systems may be covered under your homeowner's or renter's insurance. The security at our facility includes a resident manager who resides on the premises.

What kind of documentation is required to rent a storage unit?
One of the following forms of identification: a state-issued identification card, driver’s license, passport, or military ID.

Do I need to give you a notice when I am ready to move out?
A 10-day written notice is required prior to vacating the unit and you are required to stop by the office upon vacating to finalize all the necessary paperwork.

What sizes are available and how do I pick my size?
We offer a wide range of sizes to accommodate your storage needs. A1 Self Storage Systems unit sizes range from 5 x 5 x 4 lockers to 10 x 40. Determining the size of your storage needs is easy with the help of our online size guide. If you need further assistance, ask our facility employees who are trained to assist you in this process.
